December 12, 2006 - A very sad day... a GMCS friend cashed in his chips today.
Remembering Steely Dan: #1 / #2
November 20, 2006 - Yeah, I know I really slacked this time around. I think the tournament was held on September 2nd? Labor Day? I'm just now updating the site. In all honesty, I lost the freakin' media card from the camera and didn't have any pics to use. Fortunately, I found it when I was cleaning for the recent Thanksgiving festivities. I won't have the pic and wicket pages done until I get some more pics from others. This pic of our winner Antonio is one of the few I currently have.
On to the results... As mentioned, Antonio Lorenzo Tabacchi Fernandez won his THIRD Golden Mallet victory. A fine player, for sure. He came out on top in a solid final round. I can't recall who he knocked out to win, but I think it was Jill Bowman. Jill always comes in second. One of these days, she's gonna win it. It was a great weekend with lots of beer guzzling and croquet. As we did a couple years ago, we followed it up with a nice float trip on the Little Miami River the next day.
I'm still working on website stuff in bits and pieces..CLICK HERE to see the recently completed Battle of the Crater Wicket Page. When finished, all Civil War Wicket pages can be found in the "Stuff" section.
I continue to get emails from people googling names and finding them here. I like that our game and website seems to be a vehicle for long-lost friends to get back in touch. If you want to contact someone about this site or you are looking to contact someone involved with it, shoot an email to Cameron (webmaster).
This site is still somewhat under construction. There are a couple technical issues that come along with it. CLICK HERE to get more information.
For those of you that don't know, this is the NEW GMCS website, published in July of 2003. I took the old site off-line in November 2004. I'm hoping it will motivate me to fully complete the new site.

Bad Chad Magula. Snoop Chadly Chad. Chad Magula... winner of the 2007 Cincinnati Classic. Congrats to the big man!
The 2007 Cincinnati Classic was our only tournament of 2007, but it sure was a good one. We are getting a bit calmer and more responsible as we age, but we still know how to throw down a good croquet event. This years Cincy Classic was important because it was a temporary farewell to David and Sara, who are moving to France for the next year (Marseilles Invitational, anyone?). We had a great core group play and show them off with lots of beer, croquet, and late-night Kings games. Bad Chad Magula was the man of the day. Not only did win it, but he pepperred the other players with inappropriate comments to spice up the day a bit. It was Classic Chad fo sure!
As we send David and Sara off to their new home in the old world, we also begin a new chapter in the Golden Mallet Croquet Society. A new GMCS President has been appointed! I am the new leader of this band of merry fools, and I vow to make some changes. You will see some interesting wickets, some new rules, and most of them will be put in place only to fluster David. I can promise you that.
We will start thinking about Croquet events in 2008, but you can pretty much assume the Wadlow event will happen at some point in the spring. Also, Flaherty has some land in Bloominton that could work really well. Also, I'm still planning on reworking this site in a Flash format. Gotta get some free time first.

Aaron Tobaben, winner of the 2006 Robert P. Wadlow Tournament!
This was the first GMCS event not attended by David and Sara, thus it was dubbed the "No Wojo Show Wadlow". Taking advantage of their absence, we had some fun with the rules, adding wickets like the "Dork Dance" and the starting stake was planted in the back of Cameron's new Honda Element.
This tournament also saw one of the biggest games of Kings ever. At one point, something like twelve people were involved, and it actually worked out pretty well.
Congrats to Aaron! A worty first-time Golden Mallet Champion!
